Ticket holders of the DSO unite!
You have nothing to lose but your claims!
Claims to refunds from Detroit Symphony Orchestra management for failing to deliver a season of great concert music.
DSO management is dealing unfairly with their musicians. Management refused months ago to continue negotiating. Now the musicians are on strike and the concert season is “on hold.”
Together, we can send the DSO bigwigs a message: You have mistreated the musicians. You have ruined the concert season. Therefore, give us back our money.
We can do this.
Here’s how it works:
I was told by a box office spokeswoman that the DSO will refund ticket money.
I’m mailing our tickets with a letter of explanation to Anne Parsons, CEO and board chairman. My letter:
October 7, 2010
Ms. Anne Parsons, Chairman and CEO
Detroit Symphony Orchestra
3711 Woodward Avenue
Detroit, MI 48201
Fax: 313-576-5101
Dear Ms. Parsons:
As a longtime patron of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and season ticket holder, I am disturbed about the way you and the DSO board are treating members of this world-class orchestra.
You have dealt unfairly with the musicians, and now they are on strike.
Your concert season is now on hold.
You have cancelled the first weekend of concerts.
It appears very likely that no season will take place.
I am therefore requesting a full refund of the money we paid for two season tickets to the DSO.
Please deal fairly with the DSO musicians.
Yours truly,
Joel Thurtell
Did this work? Did you get your money back?? For Christmas I bought my fiance 4 flex passes thinking “Why would they sell the tickets in a gift package if they are going to cancel all remaining shows”, but they did. Now I’m wondering if I can get the money back for the 4 tickets…
Dear Brittney — Yes. The DSO refunded the entire amount I paid for season tickets. I asked for the refund right after the musicians struck.
Good luck!
Joel
